In alternating current, phase is a physical quantity that reflects the state of the alternating current at any moment. Regularly checking the phase of electrical equipment is to prevent phase-to-phase short circuits when lines are paralleled, and to avoid impacts on downstream three-phase electrical equipment caused by phase differences when line automatic devices operate due to short action times or long capacitive lines.
High-voltage phase detectors and phase sequence meters are commonly used instruments for phase detection. Although both are instruments for checking phase, they differ greatly in terms of applicable scope and testing principles.
The high-voltage phase detector has strong anti-interference capability. During operation, the phase signal of the measured high voltage is extracted by the collector and transmitted directly after processing. The phase detector receives and compares the phases, and then determines the result after phase comparison.

The phase sequence meter can detect five types of faults in industrial electricity: phase loss, reverse phase, three-phase voltage imbalance, overvoltage, and undervoltage. It promptly disconnects the electrical equipment to provide protection.
