Usage method
1. Fully extend the telescopic part of the portable telescopic high voltage discharge rod.
2. Insert the configured grounding wire plug into the socket at the head end of the discharge rod, and connect the other end of the grounding wire to the earth, ensuring reliable grounding.
3. Discharge should be performed after the test is completed, that is, when the boost knob of the control box of the DC generator is returned to zero. At this time, observe that the voltage on the voltmeter of the DC high voltage generator control box drops to about 15kV to 20kV before discharging.
4. When discharging, first use the metal tip at the front end of the discharge rod to slowly approach the test object that has been disconnected from the test power supply. At this time, the discharge rod releases electrical energy through a discharge resistor for grounding discharge. Then use the hook on the grounding wire of the discharge rod to hook the test object for a second direct grounding discharge.

Precautions
1. When discharging large capacitance test objects, after the test is completed and the test power supply is disconnected, wait for a period of time to allow the charge on the test object to self-discharge to the ground through the voltage doubling cylinder and the test object itself. At this time, observe that the voltage on the voltmeter of the control box gradually decreases. When the voltage drops to a lower voltage, generally around 5kV to 15kV, then use the discharge rod to gradually move near the test object. First, discharge through gap air ionization, at which time a hissing sound can be heard. When there is no sound, use the tip of the discharge rod to touch the test object, and finally directly ground the test object for discharge.
2. The amount of accumulated charge on large capacitance test objects is proportional to the capacitance of the test object and the magnitude and duration of the applied voltage.
3. After testing high-voltage cables of several kilometers or more, the discharge time is generally very long and requires multiple repeated discharges. The resistance capacity needs to be large, and a large-capacity discharge rod should be ordered.
4. It is strictly forbidden to use the discharge rod to discharge the test object without disconnecting the test power supply.
5. It is strictly forbidden to step on or squeeze the discharge rod with heavy objects, and it is strictly forbidden to bend or break the discharge rod.
6. It is strictly forbidden to expose the discharge rod to moisture, as it affects the insulation strength. It should be stored in a dry place.
