Plate-type infrared radiation source has a flat radiating surface composed of flat resistor plates. The front side of the resistor plate is coated with a material of high reflectivity, while the back side is coated with a material of low reflectivity, so most of the heat is radiated from the front side. The working temperature of the plate type can reach over 1000°C, and it can be used for annealing of steel materials and large-diameter pipes and container welds.
Electric infrared heating is actually a special form of resistance heating, where materials such as tungsten, iron-nickel, or nickel-chromium alloys are used as radiators to form radiation sources. When powered on, they generate heat radiation due to their resistance heating. Common electric infrared heating radiation sources include lamp type (reflective), tube type (quartz tube type), and plate type (flat type). The lamp type is an infrared lamp.
