The heat tracing method of electric heat tracing cables
1. The core material of self-regulating electric heat tracing is PTC semi-conductive plastic, whose resistance value increases correspondingly with the rise of temperature. However, when the temperature rises to a certain value (this temperature value is the threshold temperature, which can actually be adjusted as needed), the resistance suddenly increases sharply, thereby blocking the current and stopping heating; when the temperature is below the threshold temperature, the resistance of the PTC material automatically decreases and conducts current to continue heating. Thus, the system maintains a stable temperature value. The basic self-regulating electric heat tracing cable (heat tracing cable) consists of a PTC core strip and an insulation layer. The PTC material is extruded (or wrapped) continuously and uniformly with uniform thickness onto parallel metal wire cores (also called bus wires) to form a flat strip, which is the PTC core strip. On its outside, a layer of polyethylene polymer or polyvinyl chloride insulation layer is wrapped. When the environment has requirements for reinforcement or corrosion resistance, a braided layer or fluoropolymer can be added.
